On Friday, October 23, 2015, we learned of an industry-wide outage affecting Hypercom/ Equinox 4200 series terminals. This potentially affects all Hypercom/ Equinox users, not only Elavon customers. If you received a notice in August regarding a mandatory software update, please note that this outage is unrelated. We’ve worked with Equinox to obtain a solution, which is outlined in the steps below. Please check your terminal’s firmware version before moving on to steps 2 and 3. Do not turn your terminal off before completing Step 1 below. Affected Terminals Step 1: Firmware Check Note: If your terminal doesn’t have the most recent firmware version prior to downloading the update, the device will become inoperable. Press HOME Press FUNCTION Press 4. UTILITY FUNCTIONS Press 1. PRINT MENU Press 3. PRINT VERSION Look at Boot: xxxxxxxx (it needs to be newer than 20090423). If the boot mode is or older, please proceed with Step 2: Firmware Update. If the boot mode is newer than 20090423, please skip to Step 3: Application Update. Step 2: Firmware Update Note: Only perform this step if boot mode is or older ( Apr 23, 2009).
